Andrej & Olga Dugin
The enchanting work of the husband and wife team Andre and Olga
Dugin fills the pages of their unique re-telling of the Grimm
Brother's story THE BRAVE LITTLE TAILOR. The duo (both originally
from Moscow, now living in Germany) works in the tradition of
Hieronymous Bosch or Peter Bruegel. In their version, which
took over two years to produce, each corner of every illustration
is filled with outrageous details; a gigantic fish sits in a
birdcage, a tiny elephant walks upside down on the ceiling,
winged salt shakers carry threaded needles. Their efforts for
this intriguing collaboration were rewarded with a Gold Medal
from the Society of Illustrators. ANDREJ DUGIN, born in Moscow,
studied at the Krasnopresnenskaya Art School in Moscow (1968-1972)
and the Surikow Arts Institute (1972-1979) and worked as an
illustrator for Russian magazines and publishing houses. His
wife, OLGA DUGIN, also studied at the Krasnopresnenskaya Art
School in Moscow (1978-1981) and went on to graduate from the
Moscow Arts College in 1988 and also worked as a graphic designer
and illustrator.
