Giftlit is a wonderful concept where books of a particular genre are grouped and compiled by a panel of academia, librarians, authors and folks in the industry. You can chose to get three, six, or twelve books as part of a giftbasket, and each of these books comes home once a month.

It’s actually a gift that goes on through the year! You can read more about it on www.giftlit.com, and we’ve also picked out some compilations that we particularly liked and featured it in following posts.

Before we go though, the fantasy books for kids aged 10-12 is a wonderful compilation. If your kids loved Harry Potter, then they’ll adore the books in this collection as well!

The Raggedy Ann doll was first introduced as a book that was both, written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle in 1915. And for almost a century now, these dolls have been little girl’s best friends.

Raggedy Ann was born when Gruelle’s young daughter came home one day with a rag doll that Gruelle drew a face on and decided to call Ann. He then went on to write and draw about Raggedy Ann and later her brother, Raggedy Andy. Gruelle’s illustrations became so popular that the Raggedy Ann doll soon became a star.

Today, you can buy Raggedy Ann calendars, dolls, books, and almost about anything for your kids. One great site that we came across was raggedy-ann.com. Happy shopping!

The Poky Little Puppy was first published in 1942, and since then has been one of the best-selling stories of all time. The book was written by Janette Sebring Lowrey, who was from Texas and was illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren.

The book is beautifully illustrated and tells a simple story about a little puppy who gets lucky with his mischief, and manages to outsmart his lit two nights in a row but is caught by his mother on the third night!

It’s the perfect little book to read out loud to your little ones before tucking them into bed at night. They will definitely dream of puppies and mischief!

Written by Lyn Reid Banks, this book has been a children’s favorite for over twenty years now. The story was also adapted and made into a film in 1995.

The book, in fact, is one of four books written about an Indian from the past, Little Bear; and his relationship with a boy from the present Omri. Filled with adventures that start when Omri discovers that he can bring back the souls of people from the past and bring his plastic toys alive, the book brings together interesting characters from history; and teaches as it enthralls its audience.

This wonderful story is one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, and with its cheeky bunny hero and his crazy adventure, it isn’t surprising!

Beatrix Potter’s charming story is a great book to read out to little children. Her rhyme is sure to keep your child enthralled for many nights! Share the laughs and the giggles when Mr. McGregor finds Peter rabbit in his garden and when Peter’s sisters Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton Tail appear on the scene! The illustrations are adorable.

Look out for the little robin that’s always around Peter when he’s stealing from Mr. McGregor’s garden patch!
