Quentin Blake
Utilizing pen and ink and watercolor, Quentin Blake’s
exuberant and unmistakable style captures character and movement
with wit, gaiety, and economy. He has illustrated over 200 picture
books (16 of which he also wrote), and has won many awards confirming
that his “originality and sense of humor, together with
his skill with line, colours and movement have made him a beloved
illustrator with a wide international impact.” On May
10th, 1999, Quentin was appointed Great Britain’s first-ever
Children’s Laureate -- a roving ambassador for books for
the young. In the U.S., Quentin Blake is perhaps best known
for his 15-year collaboration with beloved author Ronald Dahl,
which resulted in prize-winning illustrations for The BFG,
The Witches, Matilda, and Esio Trot.
